Review Policy

Introduction

Review plays a fundamental role in academic publishing. In our journal, we give importance to the process, not only on the research side but also on the reviewer's side. Therefore, we are interested in establishing quality and transparency parameters while recognizing the professionals who support us in this crucial task.

Revista Publicando uses the double-blind peer review method.

How are manuscripts processed?

  • Once the author uploads the article, the editorial board will verify that it meets the minimum criteria necessary to be sent for review.
  • The reviewers will be chosen from the journal's database itself, and when necessary, external experts can be contacted for that process. They will receive a review form so they can be guided in the evaluation process. Reviewers would always obtain a certificate confirming their participation as reviewers of Revista Publicando.
  • Once the task is finished, the reviewers must decide within the following categories: AcceptAccept with revisions or Decline.
  • The section editor will receive the verdicts, and if necessary, may seek the opinion of another reviewer.
  • The section editor will be responsible for sending the final decision about his/her collaboration to the author, detailing why the decision was made.
  • If the article is accepted with amendments, the authors will receive the suggestions that reviewers made to the article and be informed about the time they must correct the paper.
  • Once the author finishes with the paper for the second time, he/she must return the corrected version within the assigned period.
  • The new corrected version is checked against the original, and a decision is taken as to whether to continue with the publication process.

How long should the review take?

At Revista Publicando, we try to ensure that the entire process -from submission to publication- takes a maximum of three months. This commits us to provide an expeditious review, in conformity with high standards.

Therefore, with the manuscripts evaluated by the fast-track review method, the review should not take more than 15 days. On the other hand, in the standard review case, the process should not take more than one month (4 weeks).

Incentive to Reviewers

  • Delivery of an official certificate by the General Editor of our journal.
  • Discount for future publications. In case of having performed one or more reviews for the journal in a period of 12 months. The discount for reviewers of Revista Publicando is 25%. This applies to one manuscript only and must be requested at the time of submission; applying only to article processing fees (APC). See more on Publication fees.
  • In the case of fast-track reviews, an additional $30.00 fee per manuscript will be paid in addition to the discount mentioned above. Payments will be made through PayPal -for which the person must have an account created- or through bank transfer. Please note that transfer fees apply in all cases.

Evaluation of reviewers

Following the recommendations of Godlee and Jefferson (2009), Revista Publicando will consider that:

  • The reviewer has identified the strengths and weaknesses of the study design and methods.
  • The reviewer has commented on the author's interpretation of the data.
  • The reviewer comments on the strengths and weaknesses of the text, independent of the methodological aspects.
  • The reviewer has suggested possible improvements to the manuscript.
  • The reviewer's comments are constructive and professional (even if not seen by the author).
  • The editor receives an input of context and perspective to make the best decision regarding acceptance or rejection of the paper.
